In this short tutorial you will be guided through step by step instruction on creating a taper pin. Follow the below steps for details. 
 
1) Open Inventor as shown in step one to nine in the following link - Core Rod Extension - and create a sketch as shown in Figure 1. After create the sketch click on button to exit sketcher work bench.

2) Go to isometric view by pressing F6 key. Click on button in "Part Features" panel. When "Revolve" dialog box appears select the sketch as the profile and the axis of revolution as shown in Figure 2. When finished click ok.

3) In just three steps we could finish creating taper pin. The resultant part is as shown in Figure 3.
