This illustrated step by step tutorial provides instruction on creating a bracket. 
 
1) Open Inventor as shown in step one to nine in the following link - Core Rod Extension - and draw a sketch as shown in Figure 1.

2) Now let us "Constraint" the sketch with general dimension and then edit the height to 1.50 and width to 7.00 as shown in Figure 2.

3) Now let us go to isometric as shown in Figure 3.

4) Now select "Extrude" tool from "Part Features" panel as shown in Figure 4.
