In this step by step illustrated short tutorial we are going to learn to create a Hair Pin Cotter Pin. Follow the below steps for details. 
 
1) Open Inventor as shown in step one to nine in the following link - Core Rod Extension - and create a sketch as shown in Figure 1. After create the sketch click on button to exit sketcher work bench.

2) Go to "Isometric View" as shown in Figure 2..

3) Now let us create a new work plane by clicking button in "Part Feature" panel. Select XY plane as reference as shown in Figure 3.
