In this new tutorial I am going to show you one of the most powerful aspects of 3d Max. Have you ever wanted to animate a scene with various objects crashing into one another? It is a daunting task, and practically impossible for anyone except the most advanced animator. But when the makers of 3D Max bungled REACTOR with the software all that changed. I'm going to show you how to set up a basic collision scene using Reactor, then animate it and save as an avi animation. 
 
1) For this tutorial, we are going to use '3D CAD RESOURCES' for our text, then smash the letters all over the place with some big balls. Sound like fun? It is! Click the create panel, then the shapes tab. Look down the list until you found the text button. In the space provided, type '3', then click in the front viewport as shown inFigure 1.

2) Now click the Modify panel, and from the drop down modifier list, choose 'Extrude'. For the purposes of this tutorial, the only thing you need to change is the amount value as shown in figure 2.
